Chapter 20 - The Inheritance of Magnus

He literally flew from branch to branch, moving elegantly through the forest at startling speeds. After fucking Alyssa, he had gained her agility and speed, as well as enhanced tracking abilities and senses.

He passed by the battle ground where he killed the Golden Demon Ape. The monster’s carcass was still there without its skin and fur. All the important parts had been extracted by Alyssa leaving only the rotting flesh and bones. It was surrounded by several scavengers that were having a feast.

The seals were leading him two directions, so he followed the closest one. Sure enough, it led him to a den. At a glance, he figured that it belonged to a pack of Ice Wolves. He cautiously walked into the den and saw the dead body of the ice wolf that created his seal.

He guessed that the this wolf and the other creature probably feasted on the Golden Demon Ape and accidentally consumed a few of his seals. As soon as he called them back, they killed the wolf from the inside, leaving holes in its body as shown here.

He quickly extracted the monster core, discovering that this Ice Wolf was actually a level 2 beast.

Suddenly, he sensed that the rest of the wolfpack was approaching. He had a quick look around and found nothing of interest and rushed out of the den with incredible speed.

The wolfpack consisted of 4 level 1 Ice Wolves and several younger lower leveled wolves.

With his right hand, Cyrus repelled them away, giving him a corridor to escape and disappeared into the forest.

The wolfpack gave chase, and with their sense of smell, could easily follow Cyrus’ trail. However, he was so fast, they couldn’t catch up.

He ran for around half and hour, following the other seal before climbing up a mountain and finding a cave. He cautiously looked inside and found the body of a lightning lizard.

These were actually decedents of real dragons, but they were nowhere as dangerous as real dragons. As he extracted its demon core, he found that this beast was also a level 2 beast.

He exited the cave and headed towards Grand Mariner. He stopped at the site where he originally killed the first 6 demon apes and rescued the dryad and figured the direction he was originally heading.

He remembered that he estimated by eagle would still take around 2 days. By land, without getting lost will probably take him more than a week even at the speed he was running. .

It was still going to be quite a distance and he hoped to be able to buy a horse or something rather than walk the rest of the way, so he hoped to run into another town to get

Not long later, he found a beautiful still lake in the middle of the forest. He stopped to take a drink and decided to take a bath. His body was still covered with the smell of sex as well as a mixture of herbal paste that Alyssa originally put on him.

He was dressed in Dani’s clothes and besides her adventurer’s clothes, the only thing he had were his academy robes. He really didn’t want to wear any of the clothes of the other mages or warriors that he killed.

So he started washing Dani’s leather clothes and dried them on a rock by the side of the lake, then took a swim naked.

As he swam, he suddenly felt a chill. He looked into the water but saw nothing. Immediately he activated the rune on his forehead.

Instantly everything became clear, and there were numerous ghouls in the water that were approaching him.

“What are ghouls doing here?” he thought to himself. He was not scared in the least. As Loki, his daughter was Hela, the Goddess of Death.

Although he didn’t retain any of his Godly powers, but not only his knowledge but his spirit power was that of Loki.

The moment the ghouls touched him, they screamed and recoiled back in pain. Loki’s spirit was too powerful, the depth of his spirit world was that of a God.

He decided to follow the retreating ghouls, diving deeper and deeper. He was about to lose his breath when he found an underwater cave that looked like a hole and dove in.

As he emerged from the hole on the other side to find himself in a large cave that had air in it. He walked out of the water, seeing ghouls everywhere and saw a large mansion.

“This must be some sort of magician’s mansion” he thought as he walked in. The ghouls all kept snarling and threatening to attack him but made way for him as they could not come close to his aura.

The mansion was decrepit and as he touched the door to open it, the wooden door crumbled to pieces.

He searched the place and entered what appeared to be a library. All the books have long since decayed and there was a mummified body of a person in decayed clothes sitting on the study chair.

On the table was a journal that seemed well preserved. With his rune still activated, he immediately absorbed the knowledge in the journal without even touching it. He knew that the journal probably had a curse on it, and he had already absorbed all the knowledge from it anyway.

He absorbed all the knowledge from the remnants of the books in the library as well, which were incomplete. Even Cyrus' runes were not able to assemble knowledge from books that had crumbled to dust and had dispersed to the air.

“So, this was the mansion of Magnus the Magnificent, level 2 mage” he recalled from the books. Cyrus knew of Magnus from the library at the Abyssal Abyss Academy. He was an infamous mage that was famous for his blood magic. He mysteriously disappeared several centuries ago after being around for a millennia always being part of the major wars fighting for the highest bidder.

“Magnus’ lifelong mission was to find the key to immortality, and he had experimented for years on many different creatures but had only a limited success. Eventually he died aged 1,200 years old due to the limited successes of his experiments” gleaned Cyrus from the journal.

He picked up the journal and headed straight to the laboratory located in the basement. It was actually half laboratory, half dungeon and was littered with bones of many humanoid creatures.

He found elf bones, mermaid bones, and even what seemed like human bones but included batlike wings and claws like half-demons. From the journal, he figured that this must have been the succubi that he experimented on.

The journal mentioned that he experimented on succubi and vampires, but the ones he captured were not pure blooded. Only a succubus queen or vampire lord levels had real immortality.

Finding nothing of note, he searched the rest of the house. In the magician’s bedroom, he found a staff. It was a plain staff with a large red ruby on the top.

“The Blood Staff!” Cyrus recognized. This was a legendary staff was the staff Magnus used in battle. With it, the enemies’ blood will boil and their bodies explode. Magnus was then able to fight using the blood of his enemies like a incredibly powerful water mage, except using blood.

Unlike water magic, the blood will corrode anything it touches, so Magus was an incredibly feared mage in his time.

Please with his find, Cyrus used his rune to look for any more hidden treasures. Finding none, he kept the staff and journal into his spatial ring and swam back to the shore.

As he approached the shore, he saw a beautiful red haired woman undressing on the shore. She was topless, wearing only what looked like metal panties

At that moment, their eyes met and she immediately raged in fury.
